Computer ConceptsTechnology Research Project: iPhone 4SThis paper is submitted in partial fulfillment of the Associate of Science Degree in HVACApplied Electronics Technology at Southern Technical CollegeThroughout this paper I will discuss the history of the iPhone and advantages of smartphones. ConclusionVI. BibliographyIt wasn't long ago that we were all racing to a pay phone so we could call back the person who just paged us. Technology has advanced quite a bit since then and I don't anticipate it will be slowing down anytime soon. Nokia was one of the first popular cell phone producers but today there's a huge line of competition out there. However, even with all of the competition out there, Apple seems to be on top. "J.D. Power and Associates have just announced the results of their annual smartphone customer satisfaction survey, and like usual, Apple's iPhone has topped the list. On a 1,000-point scale, spanning criteria of performance, ease of operation, physical design, and features, Apple scored 839."(Sage, 2012) Even though I've never been a big fan of Macintosh, I would have to agree that Apple has almost perfected the cell phone. Throughout this paper I will discuss the history of the iPhone, how it can help you, the applications and features, as well as the future of the phone. The original iPhone was released in January 2007 at a MacWorld conference. Since then, we have seen several generations of the phone. First was the iPhone 2G, then the 3G, 3Gs, 4, and now the 4S. The iPhone 4s is Apple's 5th generation of the iPhone. While the outside looks the same as last year, the 2011 iPhone 4S has the new Apple A5 processor for double the speed and 7x the graphics performance. It's also got a new 8MP, F2.4 camera for great pictures and 1080p video. The upgraded retina display makes this camera one of the most impressive ever seen on a cell phone. Face Time is another built in feature where you can video conference with other callers who have the same phone. Also, it is a portable media player and internet client with web browsing, GPS, email and Wi-Fi.I believe the iPhone, along with most smartphones today, is an extremely useful tool for the average person. The possibilities of how these new phones can help us almost seem endless. "In a nutshell, a smartphone is a device that lets you make telephone calls, but also adds in features that, in the past, you would have found only on a personal digital assistant or a computer--such as the ability to send and receive e-mail and edit Office documents, for example."(Cassavoy, 2011) These new phones are essentially mini computers similar to a tablet while having the ability to make phone calls. They can help us a great deal when it comes to school and research. Having the internet at your fingertips...
