In the modern world, there are many social media tools that have different types of usages. Twitter is a social networking tool that is being founded in 2006 by Jack Dorsey. For example, the first tweet on Twitter was “just setting up my tweet” by Jack Dorsey. The original function of Twitter is to ask the users questions and interact with each other based on different views and opinions (Java, Finin, Song & Tseng, 2007, p. 2). The amount of Twitter users is increasing in 2012 from 400 to 500 million users (Holt, 2013). 3). Twitter provides a direct content to the users that are interested in certain topics that can also be contributed to the Web 2.0 in the usage of social media. The applications in Twitter help to translate tweets in different languages by flouting the language difficulty to facilitate additional communication and collaboration between users to understand the tweets easily (Huberman, Romero & Wu, 2008, p. 4). The vast development of Web 2.0 tools has acknowledged further involvement for users by moving from the static to dynamic contents to modified pages into communicating and approachable contents that can be published or deleted easily. For example, Facebook and Youtube can be connected to Twitter due to the Web 2.0 technology that abridge web publication. Users in the modern world are using Twitter to interact in comprehensive conversations by using the @ symbol and the tradition of using hashtags (#s) for a specific discussed topic that is trending on Twitter (Boyd, Golder & Lotan, 2010, p. 3). Lately, users are using Twitter to search for job opportunities and also careers for graduates. Thus, Twitter can be connected to many Web 2.0 tools and sites to incite further interaction with its precise followers by flaunting the tweets on the main page.
The collaboration between users and Twitter enable the technological development of Web 2.0 as the vital structures for social communication amenities for project communication discussions (Jansen, Zhang, Sobel & Chowdury, 2009, p. 3). Twitter’s users are compelling benefits of the collaborative resolutions because conversation is a major module of collaboration in social media tools. The important usage of Twitter towards collaboration is to collaborate or communicate with others in protracted connections using the @ symbol. The @ symbol is useful to address the users’ tweets to other users’ pages to inform that the tweets had been delivered. For example, many Malaysian users used the @ and # symbols to inform the other users about the MH370 missing plane to update and portray the latest news. Twitter is using a collaborative purpose by collaborating between business’ companies to interact using the active type of messaging to assign ideas and manage activities easily using the social collaboration to communicate among the specific users (Kwak, Lee, Park & Moon, 2010, p. 3).
