Topic: Mafia Crime

Al Capone got his start as a bodyguard for Johnny Torrio, who was the head of a criminal syndicate in Chicago. After Torrio retired, Capone gained control of the syndicate and expanded upon the bootlegging business. As he expanded this act it became more violent. Capone had a special relationship with the police and mayor which prevented him from being arrested. He became known as the “modern-day Robin Hood” and donated to a vast amount of charities.
This book also mentions the number of crimes Al Capone and his men were involved with. Some of the major crimes would include Toledo American Express robbery, Murder of Frankie Yale at New York City, St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, The Lincoln, Nebraska Bank Robbery, Kansas City Massacre. The details revealed by the gang member’s wife really helped to paint a clear picture of how everything would go down.
