Migration is becoming a very important subject for the big cities’ life. Educational, social, cultural and financial opportunities of big cities pull large numbers of people to big cities. Los Angeles is home to representatives from more than 140 countries speaking at least 224 different languages. Lots of people move there for a better quality of life and job. The city is the second in the U.S. after Miami's share of the population born outside the country. So, there can be some advantages and disadvantages during immigration to LA.
Economic factors:
The first negative effect is that it causes economic problems for the city. Most importantly, migration leads to a decrease on the quality of workers. The immigrant workers are semi-skilled. Also, the government suffers from unpaid taxes of immigrants, the illegal households. According to Michael's record, in the health care delivery system of the county, the illegal are being treated at a cost of about $ 500 million a year. Additionally, one in fifteen people in the city is an illegal immigrant - the state at an annual cost of about $ 3 billion.
Social factors:
Another great negative impact of migration to urban is the social problems in citizens’ lives. First of all, the poor conditions of immigrants’ lives encourage them to commit crime. Furthermore, it causes teenagers to be criminals. According to statistics from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, the number of crimes in 2012 increased by 1.2 percent. Considering the information above, one can conclude that the young population under the impact of migration is becoming criminals and the number of them is increasing day by day.
Religious factors:
In addition to criminal issues, cultural erosion is also a big problem. To begin with, the immigrants vary because of the new culture which they try to adapt, and this is called natural assimilation. The obligatory assimilation unfortunately is another cultural erosion. Shortly, it can clearly be understood that crime and cultural erosion are the rodents of civilizations and damage both citizens and immigrants negatively.
