What is a true friendship?
Wikipedia gives us the definition that friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between two or more people. But is that all a friendship really is about? In my opinion everybody has their own definition of a true friendship.
One of the basic human needs is communication. Communicating with somebody who you can trust, who always understands and supports you, a person on whom you can rely on in any situation. This is the exact definition of a good friend – a sincere, faithful and honest person. In our big world it is hard to find such a person. But it is even more difficult to keep him next to you because of some small things and not to betray the relationship you have. A real friend is the one with whom you passed both joy and sorrow and still stayed together.
But do all of us know how to be a real friend? It often happens that two people are constantly talking and spending a lot of time together, but one of them might be in trouble or, on the contrary, something amazing happened in his life. And then it seems as if there was no strong friendship at all. Some of the people are scared by the troubles of their friend, they do not want to intervene and get worried about something that does not apply to them. Sometimes it can be even worse: one friend began to envy the other because of his success, joys, and victories. No wonder why it is said that true friendship is not checked by trouble, but indeed by the success of one of the friends.
So what is a true friendship in my opinion? I think it is the one that has been checked by long years. When people are friends for many years they have been through a lot and passed the 'test'. I think a true friend wishes you only good things and struggles to help make your life better. This does not mean that he always needs to say pleasant things. Not at all!...
