Not only do organizations have to be concerned with risk management but they are also tasked with ensuring their systems are compliant. (2013), Both risk management and compliance are essential, and firms that merge, balance and manage the overlap between the two are most likely to avoid the biggest and most dangerous obstacles to their existence. Most of the security plans are usually driven by two things, the organizations business doctrine and its allocated budget. If an organization has the resources to fulfill their needs they are truly fortunate. Most of the time the organizations are required to fully comply to meet federal law and supplier’s requirements.
How does a business make a decision on risk management when there is no set standard? Each organization has unique needs and should tailor the risk management to fulfill those needs. What is the industry standard for risk management. The government does have a guide for safeguarding their systems but nothing exists for the private sector.
