668 words - 3 pages

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if school started later in the afternoon rather than first thing in the morning? School should start at least a few hours later then it normally does. Although not all parents and teachers agree, I believe school starting later in the afternoon would be of great benefit to students.
After being up late at night doing homework and studying what student wants to get up first thing in the morning and go to school? In my opinion, not many. With the lack of sleep after being up late, going to school and trying to focus and learn can become a very difficult task, which in the end ultimately makes students irritated and angry. Whereas, if school started later, students would be able to get more sleep at night and wake up feeling more refreshed and ready to learn. Better focus and being less tired can also lead to having better grades, which would then help students have more self confidence and a better attitude towards school. For these reasons, I truly believe starting school at a later time would be favorable to students.
Have you ever heard teachers and school officials complain about attendance? Well, I am almost positive that attendance would improve with the change in school start time. There have been several situations where pupils wake up in the morning and are just so tired that they make the decision to just stay home and rest. With an increase of sleep and relax time the school attendance would greatly improve. School starting later would not only be helpful to the students, but also to the parents and teachers. Parents and teachers would also benefit by being able to get more sleep. If school didn't start so early, parents wouldn't have to get up at the initial time to take their children to school. Also, teachers wouldn’t have to get to school so early either, which may help to give...
