When you look into veterans eyes, you can see several things that are important. The pride shines through, the pride of serving ones country, and the dedication to protect other peoples freedom even it if requires paying the ultimate price. These men and women give their lives to give us our freedom. As a one of the many individuals that they are protecting it is vital that we see that pride and appreciate where it comes from.

We know about the sadness felt from the veterans through their eyes. We can see this because some have guilt that they made it while others did not. Some also have the sadness in their eyes because they could not save their friends from their inevitable deaths. Watching your friends and brothers fall around you without any power to save them is devastating and heartbreaking.
Many of our veterans did not just have one deployment though. They served our country for years before coming back to the United States. They have witnessed the horrors of war and death. They have witnessed the worst cruelty around the world. These men and women have experienced things that many of us could never comprehend.
We need to find a way to show these men and women that we respect what they did for us and what those serving are doing for us currently. We need to find a way to show that they are important in our lives. If they are sacrificing their lives for us what can we do to show them we appreciate it?
