Should people think that organic food is necessary in order to be environmental friendly individual? People became more aware of the environmental problems, and many people choose to stand and even to change their lifestyle if they have to in order to help the sustainability of Earth and health of people. People made environmental friendly actions such as buying organic food. Buying organic food is considered as a critical action to support organic farming and organic products.

Some universities that found its students interested in eco-friendly behaviors provided organic meals for the student to make a choice of organic meals and an environmental friendly behavior for the students. People became worry about environmental problem and their health. People find organic food better for them or less dangerous than conventional food. People who consume organic food are most likely concern about either their environment or their health. In 1994, 29% of the general public bought organic foods. People consume organic fruits and vegetables more than in the past mostly due to a healthy diet. (Molly J. Dahm, PhD; Aurelia V. Samonte, MS, RD; Amy R. Shows, PhD, RD 2009). “Our growth is led by consumer concern about pesticides and their impact on human health and the environment,” Kahn says.
In 2008 and 2009, the prices of organic food significantly increased. The organic foods sales reached $26.7 billion from $3.6 in just three years. People are ready to pay the double for organic foods instead of conventional foods (Smith-Spangler, Crystal, et al 2012).
The increase in the prices of the organic production came with the increase of the awareness of people about the mass-produced foods. Organic food may become as important as fast food is in the future’s society.
