Why Societies Fail Essay

1204 words - 5 pages

“If society fits you comfortably enough, you call it freedom.” A quote from Robert Frost that explains, that every society is never perfect, if we get what we want, and we enjoy it, it is freedom. In different ways societies can fall, even the greatest societies fall due to the worst problems. When even the best societies face the worst problems, the society turns into a dystopian society. Every society over the world face problems, but when the problems expand, the society fails. Fighting in too many wars could lead, to many lose of jobs, money lose, and people lose. Wars could be more dangerous than they expected, and the leader could lose their whole army. Having corrupt leaders could lead to many bad decisions made in their society, also having corrupt leaders could lead to very poor laws decided. Different Civilizations over the world, have fallen because of many different reasons, the issues that different societies had to face the most was, fighting and losing too many wars, having bad laws, and having corrupt leaders.
A major example of failures of many societies is to fight to many wars. The wars fought, caused many societies to fall. An example of how there were too many wars was Greece. Greece fell because of their armies falling, and losing their wars. Alexander the great caused this to happen. Alexander forced the army to keep going, until he couldn’t go any longer. Alexander caused his army to become weak, and lose because he only cared about himself. Greece fell because of the inflexibility of its armies. “Alexander the Great pioneered tactics to complement the phalanx that was heavily armored and augmented its strengths while defending its weakness which was its inflexibility” (TCI Online). Alexander was the inflexible one who only cared about himself, and the money, and land he would concur. Another example of societies having too many wars is Rome. Rome fought in the Punic Wars which caused the collapse of Rome making the society collapse, and face many other challenging problems. One of the many problems they encountered was how to grow crops, and produce money for there needs. “The soldiers of Rome were small landowners, who were away from their farms for money, and when the Punic Wars were taking place, It destroyed the small landowners farms, which was how they got there money” (TCI Online). Rome could not face these challenging problems which helped to contribute to the fall of Rome. Lastly, an example of a society that fell because of too many wars, was Sparta. Sparta fell because of the war that was put between them. They fell because they kept fighting in wars they knew they would not win, but they kept on fighting, and lost, which contributed to the fall of the society. “Sparta being replenished of power and strength, Athens suffering problems arising from the Second Athens Naval Confederacy” (Thomas R. Martin). Great societies have failed because of these wars, corrupt leaderships have also lead to many struggles of...
