Why Societies Fall Essay

2001 words - 9 pages

Over time all societies come to an end or fall because of issues around the world, corrupt leaders, mistreatment of citizens, and loss of jobs/economic crises, due to these problems many societies have fallen and are now no longer alive. “The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion” Albert Camus said. He explains that the only way to be free is to go against all odds to be different. Many societies come to an end. They may be known as the best society ever known. But they all have problems that lead to the fall of the society. There are three main reasons to the fall of a society, corrupt leaders, mistreatment of citizens, and loss of jobs/economic crises, due to these problems many societies have fallen and are now no longer alive.

One of the reasons why great societies fall is corrupt leaders. Edward R Murrow said, “ A nation of sheep will soon have a government of wolves.” Here Edward is saying that the nation of us people are having leaders and government that will corrupt and own everything we have. Edward states that sheep are we the people and wolves are the government that will hunt us down for more power. When a nation of good people (sheep) start the government (wolves) take all their rights away. An example of corrupt leadership is in the book Mockingjay, by Suzanne Collins. In Mockingjay President Snow does not give any room for breaking laws. Snow set fire to district 12 because of Katniss’s disobeying of his laws and regulations. This would lead to riots and rebellion. As a fact It did, and now their are two types of people, the rebels and the capital. Ever Since 12 burn’t down the people made district 13 and now are planning to rebel against the laws of the capital. This could well be a problem that could end this society because when a leader hurts his people they will rebel. This could lead to war which lead to an end of the society.“I kill Snow. If he’s captured, I want the privilege.” (page 38) Katniss wrote down as she was being called to a Mockingjay position. “Kill” this is a very strong word to use. This shows how much people despise his works and ways. By this they want to kill him and take down the government. This could lead to large problems in the districts and it is already starting. Another example of the corrupt leadership Is in Nazi Germany. There was a man who many people now think of as a killer. His name is Hitler. He decided that Jews and minorities were to die because they were different. He wanted to make it the best society it could be by killing off the different people when his plan would lead to the opposite and the fall of the society. He did this because Hitler had to blame someone for the war they had just lost. He picked the minorities because they were different and everyone had to be the same in his eyes. He was trying to make the society better when he did not know it would lead to the end of the society. “Make the...
