William Henry Gates Iii Essay

1535 words - 6 pages

Whenever and wherever human beings are gathered together in large numbers, they need leadership. A leader is someone who many people look to for direction, guidance, and inspiration, so it is important for our leaders to have the aptitude to make difficult decisions and to know and do what is right for the people. Leadership is a quality hidden in the personality of a human being. Our society depends on the abilities of our leaders and how well they can do their jobs. In today’s day in age a leader is a lot more than just someone who is in charge of a group of people but someone who conforms the people around him to be better as a whole. On that note, Bill Gates, a self-made Harvard dropout, is an effective leader because of his leadership qualities, determination, and intelligence.
Leadership qualities are the backbone of every leader. A leader is someone who stands not only for his cause but takes responsibility and motivates other individuals also. There is a clear difference between being a boss and a leader. A leader is encouragement for others and inspires them to aim high. However a boss only supervises over his workers. Bill Gates was a guy with all the money in the world, yet he showed up every day to help and grow his company. Bill was a guy with many great leadership qualities. “If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader” (Sornapudi). This is true when it comes to the leadership shown by Bill Gates. He had the desire to create a company that would one day revolutionize the way computers are use. Everyone thought he was crazy when he started to pursue his career and now look at it; Microsoft is worth over “$51.12 billion” (Schneider). Microsoft Corporation is the worldwide leader in software for computers.
Not only is Gates' mind genius in the creation of software but his leadership at Microsoft Corporation has been extravagant in recent years. Microsoft is the world’s leading corporation for computer software. From creating programs in his dorm room to becoming the leader in software production Gates' has learned to lead his people in the right direction and has taught them to never give up. Even when Bill was faced with hardships such as lawsuits and bankruptcy he never stopped his leadership towards his employees.
Dreams and goals are accomplished when you have the determination to aim for them. You cannot reach your full potential unless you have the will to do your very best at all times and to work past the many difficulties that will arise along life’s path. Being determined gives you the strength to push yourself. You are not always born into life with an easy road. Bill Gates once said, “If you are born poor it’s not your fault. But if you die poor it’s your fault” (Bill Gates). Even when you don’t want to, just knowing you should, will give you that extra bump in the right direction.
Determination is pursuing a goal with energy and focus. Determination keeps us firmly centered on a chosen...
