William Shakespeare was born in April of 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire. His father was a glove maker and a will merchant and his mother was the daughter of a landowner. It is said that Shakespeare was likely educated at the local King Edward VI Grammar School in Stratford where he would have been educated in Latin, Greek, and read the Roman dramatics. At the age of 18 he marries the daughter of a local farmer, Anne Hathaway, on november 28, 1582. At the time of their union Anne was 26. A mere six months after their marriage Anne gave birth to the couple’s first child, Susanna. Two years later they had twins Judith and Hamnet. Their son later died 11 years later of unknown causes.
The activities of Shakespeare from 1585-1592 are what some call ‘the lost years’, referring to the gap in records pertaining to the life of Shakespeare. The next record of him is in 1592 having made his way to London, without his family, working in the theater being and mentioned in pamphlet as an “Upstart Crow”. In 1593 and in 1594 “Venus and Adonis” and “The rape of Lucerne”, Shakespeare’s first two poems, were published and dedicated to his patron Henry Wriothesley. Between 1594 and his death he wrote 36 plays and 154 sonnets. Among his most famous plays being: Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Macbeth, Hamlet, Othello, Richard III, Henry V, Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest, and Henry IV part 1. In 1594, Shakespeare joined the Lord Chamberlain's company of actors, the most popular of the companies acting at Court. Shakespeare became one of the managing partners of The Lord Chamberlain’s Company who had interest in two theaters Blackfriars and Globe theater which became one of the most famous theaters in history.
