There are three reasons why adversaries of the Unites States have realized some strategic success against the American military. These reasons are 1. The will of the people to resist American aggression 2. The ability of the enemy to adapt to American tactics and 3. The exploitation of the fact that America was overly confident in the execution of the two researched conflicts. All three factors played a significant part in the American defeat in the Vietnam War and the Bay of Pigs invasion.
The United States is the big elephant in the room when it comes to foreign policy. It is a force to be reckoned with on the international political playing field. This alone was one of the overarching problems which attributed to the American defeat in the Vietnam War and the Bay of Pigs invasion. The enemy recognises the fact that America wants to impose its political will whenever possible so they rally nationalism to counter the intended effect. The power of the United States can be witnessed through its military might, economic reach and global political projection. The United States leads the world in providing both military and economic support to various nations around the world. Not only does it provide military and economic support to developing countries, it also is heavily involved on the economic front. The United States is a critical player when it comes to shaping world politics. It plays a critical role in global politics by defining world policies which affect human rights and how other countries use their military assets. The United States demonstrate global power in nearly every facet of diplomacy, to include the economy. Its military power is essentially the pivotal equalizer when it comes to projecting its foreign policies around the world.
Since the end of World War II, the United States has engaged in numerous military operations in which it attempted to restore peace in war torn nations. Examples of these war torn nations are Somalia, Croatia, Kuwait and Afghanistan to name just a few. It has also used its military power to go after nations that have violated international treaties or human rights violations. Iraq is a prime example of the use of American military power when it invaded the small country of Kuwait. With all the political and military power the United States possess, the United States still has not always gotten its way strategically. In some circumstances, the adversaries of America have enjoyed strategic success against the American military.
