For my final I went to see your move 2013 an art-house production. Your Move is a four day festival annually. In Jersey City New Jersey that has been going on for the past three years. Each showing is made up of several different performers, choreographers and singers. Since there are a lot of people participate in the show no two shows are the same. I found the advertisement for this event two days after the show started and I was only able to get a ticket for the last showing.
On Sunday, November 10th, 2013, I went to One McWilliams Place to see many talented people grace the stage. I have to admit when I walked in the built-in I thought it was going to get amateur show. The show took place in the home filled with chairs lined up, the stage was not elevated and the only thing keeping the performers separate from the audience when the light features. The stem and had a mini size concession stand with you first walk. The overall atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The show started late but it was worth the wait. There were ten performances which were broken up into two acts. If performance testing whether it was drama comedy pain or joy they all meet you think about different aspects of life.
There will four selections that stood out to me. One was the only performance with a singer, two was a comedy scene done by two older lady, three was a performance about death and the last performance also a comedy but a tad bit different because this gentleman interacted with the audience.
The first performance that stood out was called Sow. It was performed by two young ladies M. Hille Refakis and Carolyn Light. The song and the dance with about someone who plants their dreams and want to see them grow. I think this song was written to inspire people. In the song the acts of Gods to achieve their dreams but they also made a point stated they were going to do the work . The setting in wardrobe for this performance fit together perfectly. The young ladies wore matching blue dresses and danced in front of a golden background. The dance moves were slow but expresses. For example, when they get ladies when it showed up it was sewing a train is as if they reached into their heart and he literally planted it in the ground and in as the dreams came true they grew and stood tall. By the end of this performance the two girls that started off on the ground to help with strong and confident in what they have produced. In both the performance and realizing what they wanted.
The second performance was a comedy routine called coming or going it was performed by Marsi Burns and Alice Teirstein. This piece was very playful, upbeat and reminded me of a silent movie. The best way to describe this was an episode of the three smooches but played by two women. They followed each other around as if they were lost. Only to find that they had the following each other nowhere. They continuously ran into each other bumping heads and stopping on each other's...
